Travel...

Well, well, well. Spring Break 2000 has come and gone. Cancún Mexico was the destination of choice. Let me give you the skinny on the place in case you're thinking of going. First off it was beautiful, the beaches, the sunsets, the water - all very nice. The people, that's another thing. Granted, it is a complete and total tourist spot but come on! The people were really rude and even shouted and cussed at us for not buying at their stores, no joke. In Cancún the people try to give you as little as possible. It makes you feel as if you really have to protect your money and you start questioning people's motives. Anyway, not the nicest place, and it definitely has nothing to do with Mexico as a country. (Everything is American - food, shopping malls, clubs' music, everything.)

The one thing I was totally blown away by were the clubs themselves. The layouts and effects were amazing. La Boom's disco room is by far my favorite. We stayed until the wee hours of the morning there. It had great music, lighting, space and fog fx as well as a phone booth for special endeavors. (What's up Rahim) Other clubs, Fat Tuesday's was great for the daytime scene but the night wasn't anything special. Seńor Frogs was a lot of fun, I do recommend the slide! Dady Rock's was pretty small but alright, Dady-O's is a great place, it almost looks like a theatre but the darkness and trees make it an interesting place to go. Carlos 'n' Charlie's was the worst of all, very expensive and nothing but old people, (no offense to anyone in particular). The dollar beer bar on the strip just down the street from the Aristos was always going off - I don't think it ever closed. And then there was the Coco Bongo. This place needs a little explaining - it's my second favorite club, La Boom takes the covetted first place. The Coco Bongo was like nothing I had ever seen. They played all kinds of music from Enigma, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit and Blink182 to Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac to La Bamba, some ska and even some 50's. All this in between short movie clips and skits performed by a wide range of performers. Absolutely a club worth staying at for a while just to see what happens next.

Some highlights were the Booze Cruise, La Boom's contests, and who can forget the fateful night of the Screw Party? At any rate, we made it out alive - barely I might add. We had a great time of sand, surf, sun, and just hanging out with a few close friends. It was certainly a vacation to remember.

Up and coming travel...

Right now we're planning on going to Europe as a little graduation present to ourselves. Unfortunately these trips don't plan themselves and I'm not too sure we'll be able to get there.

I, however, am set on studying abroad in Italy this summer. That's right, for one month I'll be in Florence running around drinking vino, eating pasta fazule and probably start drinking cappuccino and espresso.

After that we're hoping to go to Hawaii - our home away from home. I gotta tell ya, I haven't found any place in this world that tops it. The Waipio Valley on the big island was an incredible experience as Hawaii was before it was commercialized. Trips to Waimea falls park and the Dole Plantation are also family favorites. Hopefully I'll get to see Maui and Kauai soon.

Other than that I have no travel plans for a while, (I know - tough life eh?)

My personal favorite boogie boarding spot, Makapu'u Beach, Oahu.
